Tayo the Little Bus Robort from Perler Hama Beads
Difficulty:
- Easy

Description:
Continuinig my theme of TV and movie related perler bead creations, here is a Tayo the Bus Robot (after his eyes fell off).  Tayo is a curious little bus who has his own Korean TV show.  Halfway through creating this Tayo, I decided to make him into a Robot bus.

Pegboard Size:
Built using a standard large square pegboard

Template:
None, just a picture of Tayo

Description:
There is something magical about Volkswagen (VW) mini-buses.  They are fun looking (so different from everything else) and so versatile - you can use them to camp in, drive around in or (in Portland) live in.
In the spirit of the hippies and fun adventurers that drive these VW mini-buses still, I made a rainbow colored van!

Pegboard Size Used:
Built using one standard large square pegboard.

In my Little Blue Truck book, he claims that the Limousine is "the longest car you've ever seen." So I looked over my beads and realized I didn't have one.  And now I do - a two-color blue limo, ready to pick you up and drive you and your friends to school.  I decided that since I was riding in a limo, it was probably a nice day (since I would have the sunroof open) - so I needed to make a sun.  So I made a sun too.

Pegboard Size Used:
Built using one standard large square pegboard - I fit both pieces on the same board.

Template:
Made it myself.  I even decided that my limo needed pointy wheels so it did not get stuck in the mud.    You can see close up pictures below, in case you want to copy them

I love building cars & mini cars are fun, because you can build a lot very quickly.  The other day, I created this mini motorcycle and equally mini car.  These little vehicles are great for driving around my room - they are great at hiding in little corners of my room.

Pegboard size used:
Two small Hexagon pegboards from this kit (you could use the same one twice though)

Template came in our transportation set & I self-designed the green car

I created this Fire Truck out of perler beads today to add to my collection of emergency vehicles.  I love cars and things that go, so it is no surprise to see this trucks speeding through my perler bead neighborhood to help people/perlers in need.  I joke that this fire truck carries an iron to repair broken beads.

Description:
Using a heart pegboard, it was fairly easy to create the core pattern Then, using 2 small circle pegboards, I created the wheels.  The hardest part telling Mom what I was trying to create - a Heart Car on Wheels.
Using the iron, Mom created each shape and then ironed them together.  It's not too hard, just need to create wheels that are the same size and make sure everything irons together well.
I will be giving this car to Dad for Valentines Day next month, since he knows that I love cars and him.

 Pegboard size used:
One small heart pegboard from this kit and two Circle pegboards (or the same circle twice)

Just combined my love of cars and Dad to create this perler bead that I know he'll love

This car was made for my little sister; she loves pink and flowers.  And since I love building cars (as you can tell), it was fun to build this sporty convertible.  It was pretty easy to follow the picture I found on a box, the hardest part was making sure I put the colors in the right spot.

While my sister was building her pick-up and Airstream trailer, I decided to build a painted pick-up truck.  We live in Portland, OR and for whatever reason, people like to paint designs on their pick-up trucks and vans.  In fact, our neighbors have a pick-up painted with animals and bright colors.  Using that as inspiration, I created my own painted truck.

Difficulty:
- Harder, but really not that hard.  My 3 year old sister made this one (with only minor help)

Description:
The fun part about Perler beads is that you can create anything you want.  Last week, we found a picture of a truck pulling an airstream.  I thought it was so cool and decided I wanted to recreate the pictures using perler beads.  Ultimately, my younger sister made it first (with just a little bit of help from Mom).

To make, we built the truck on one board and the trailer on a different pegboard.  The trick to uniting two creations from different pegboards is to melt one side on each and then melt the 2nd side while combining.

Pegboard Size Used:
Built using van template in this set for the truck and one small Hexagon pegboard for the trailer

Difficulty:
- Harder

Description:
I love things that go, so when I saw the picture of this truck, I knew I would build it.  I did not know how hard it would be.  Connecting the truck to the trailer was very difficult and required Mom's assistance (yes, they disconnect - super cool!)

Pegboard Size Used:
Built using two standard large square pegboards; although you could use 1 standard large pegboard twice.

Followed the template from this set.
Difficulty:
  - Harder, but you can follow the template, which makes it more moderate

Like all kids, I like Disney's Cars Movie.  My favorite character is Lightning McQueen - winner of the Piston Cup (I also like Sally).

I created this Police Car out of perler beads today to add to my collection of emergency vehicles.  I love cars and things that go, so it is no surprise to see this car racing through my house chasing the other speeding cars.

I love trains, so I created this train locomotive using a template and hitched it to my very own sparkly passenger car.  I drive this train all around my room.

Followed the train template from this set.  Built the Passenger on my own

I have a lot of perler bead cars and jeeps; they break down frequently (at least in my imagination).  So, I needed some way to take them to the 'shop.'  My strong tow truck takes them everywhere they need to go, even the mini cars

I went roller skating for the first time and had a great time.  So I created these skates to express my joy.  Instead of melting them smooth, Mom stuck a string in some of the wholes and connected them for 'easy carrying.'
Making perler beads that hang is a great way to display your creations.

Description:
I enjoyed building ambulances using the van template, but this creation was much harder - it has 6 different pieces

1) The van, built using the van template in this set
2) The White & Blue House (its a bank).  Built using a standard small square pegboard
3, 4, & 5) The wheels & connectors were all separate pieces that needed to be sized correctly and then ironed together in batches.
6) I made a small gold piece that goes in the holes in the bank (I lost the gold in my bedroom before we could take a picture)

Pegboard Size Used:
Built using van template in this set (I made the wheels for the bank on this pegboard too) & a standard large square pegboard

Followed the van template from this set; the rest is my only creativity

I enjoyed building yesterday's perler bead Ambulance, so I built two more today.  I thought these could be the ambulances they use in Europe, since Dad says they have different sirens and look different than American Ambulances.
